Iron ore dispatch of merchant miners in Odisha increased significantly by 33% Y-o-Y in FY17. Odisha based merchant miners supplied 61.05 MnT iron ore in domestic market compared to 45.84 MnT in previous fiscal. The figure excludes movement for exports and captive iron ore movement done by SAIL, Tata Steel and JSPL. Increased iron ore production from mines and improved off take from pellet, sponge and steel makers resulted in increased iron ore dispatches.
On monthly premises, Odisha based merchant miner’s iron ore dispatches increased 23% M-o-M to 5.52 MnT in Mar’17.
Odisha’s largest merchant miner – Rungta Mines’ iron ore dispatches to domestic market went up by 20% Y-o-Y from 14 MnT in FY16 to 16.75 MnT in FY17. Serajuddin Mines supplied 9.11 MnT iron ore in domestic market in FY17 against 8.39 MnT in previous fiscal, up by 9% Y-o-Y.
Significant increase in iron ore dispatches of mines namely – KJS Ahluwalia, Kaypee Enterprises and AMTC was seen in FY17. Iron ore dispatches from KJS Ahluwalia mines increased 94% Y-o-Y to 5.51 MnT in FY17.
State-owned miner – Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC) dispatched 3.82 MnT in FY17, up 26% Y-o-Y.
