SAIL has hiked the long product prices for April. The hike
announced is said to be the fourth time in past three months.
TMT prices have moved up by Rs 500/MT & Structural
products have seen a hike of Rs 1000/MT. While rates for flat grade steel, used
mainly to make cars and electronic appliances, have been kept unchanged.
After the hike, the Ex-plant
Base price for TMT Bar 8mm stands at Rs 41,000/MT as against the
previous price of March at Rs. 40,500/MT
According to a top official, “The imposition of entry tax in
West Bengal is one of the reasons behind the price hike. Moreover, improved demand in past two months has prompted us to reduce the bulk discount that is offered to the buyers”.
