Odisha: Since last week of Feb’17, merchant miners in Odisha have been increasing iron ore prices one after the other. Iron ore lump prices moved up to INR 300/MT amid increase in sponge iron prices. However they continue to maintain same offers for fines. Not many merchant miners in Odisha are offering material presently as it being end of financial year, many of them have already utilized their EC limits.

Chhattisgarh – National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has raised iron ore prices up to INR 100/MT M-o-M for March deliveries. High global iron ore prices, hike in prices by Odisha miners and hike in sponge iron prices resulted increase in NMDC’s iron ore prices.

Goa: No iron ore e-auction has been conducted so far in this month. Last (18th) e-auction was held on 22 Nov’16. Base prices remained unchanged at INR 500/MT for all material type across all grades. Lots containing higher Fe content fetched higher bids.
Karnataka : NMDC lifted iron ore base prices in Mar’17 Karnataka e-auctions up to INR 115/MT M-o-M. Base prices of lump (Fe 63.3%) offered by NMDC Donimalai mines stood at INR 2,702/MT and fines (Fe 60.2%) at INR 2,246/MT. Base prices for NMDC Kumaraswamy mines are currently as follows: fines (Fe 62.5%) stood at INR 2,324/MT and lump (Fe 62.8%) stood at INR 2,001/MT.
Private miners have also lifted iron ore base prices for this month. Base prices for lump (Fe 65%) offered by Vyasankere mines is at INR 2,950/MT against INR 2,830/MT in Feb’17. Prices mentioned are basic.
