South Korea, the third-largest iron ore importer after China and Japan, have imported 6.13 MnT iron ore in Jan’17, according to the trade data released by South Korean Customs.
Iron ore imports have fallen 7% M-o-M as it was 6.6 MnT in Dec’16. However, the county imported 3% more iron ore Y-o-Y for the month of Jan.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Jan’17 was registered at 5.88 MnT, down by 10% M-o-M however it was increased by 7% on Y-o-Y basis. The agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.25 MnT, remarkably up by 213% M-o-M but down by 48% Y-o-Y.
