According to US customs data, the flat steel exports which includes (7208 – HR coils/Plates, 7209 – CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) have reported a decline of 4% to 4.6 MnT in 2016 as compared to 4.8 MnT in 2015.
On yearly basis, USA flat steel exports reported a surge of 5.5% in Dec’16 as compared to previous year. In Dec’15 the flat steel exports stood at 0.36 MnT.
On monthly basis, nation’s flat steel exports registered the marginal growth of 3% to 0.38 MnT in Dec’16 against 0.36 MnT in Nov’16.
Grade wise Flat Steel Exports of USA-
As per grade-wise analysis, 7208 exports surged by 6.21% M-o-M in Dec’16 against Nov’16 whereas 7209,7210, 7225 have also increased in Dec’16 against previous month. Although, flat steel grades exports like 7212 showed a considerable decline of 21.52% in Dec’16.

Country-Wise USA Flat Steel Exports
In Dec’16, Mexico stood as the foremost buyer and procured 189,662 MT of flat steel individually. Other major buyers were Canada, Italy followed by India and Sweden.
