South Korea: Indonesian coal freight bids show mixed trend in latest KEPCO tenders

  • Korea Line bid $15.72/t on 19 October
  • Pan Ocean bid $13.38/t, up 0.4% from previous tender

Under a Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) tender on 19 October 2026, Korea Line bid $15.72/tonne (t) for an 80,000 t coal shipment from NPLCT, Indonesia, to Gangreung, South Korea, with loading scheduled for 29 October-2 November.

On 20 October, Pan Ocean bid $13.38/t for an 80,000 t shipment from Balikpapan, Indonesia, to Boryeong, South Korea, with loading scheduled for 1-10 November.

The Pan Ocean bid was $2.34/t, or 14.9%, lower than Korea Line’s offer a day earlier.

In the previous KEPCO tender on 8 October, Five Ocean bid $13.33/t FIO for a 75,000 t shipment from Tanjung Kampeh, Indonesia, to Hosan, South Korea, for loading on 21-27 October. The latest Pan Ocean bid was $0.05/t, or around 0.4%, higher than Five Ocean’s earlier bid.

The latest tender indications suggest broadly stable freight quotations compared with the earlier bid, while the lower Pan Ocean offer relative to Korea Line highlights variation across individual shipment requirements.
