Sarda Metals & Alloys Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd, has been declared the preferred bidder for the Avagudem expired manganese mining lease block in Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh, according to an exchange filing dated 10 October 2026. The block holds estimated geological resources of 0.70 mnt.
Block covers 13.868 hectares with G1 exploration status
According to the block summary, the mineral concession spans 13.868 hectares and has a G1 exploration status. The estimated geological resources total around 0.70 mn tonnes, with manganese content ranging from 25.84% to 27.31%. The block falls entirely on government land, with no forest land reported in the concession area. The resource estimate is based on the final mine closure plan approved by the Indian Bureau of Mines.
Rail connectivity offers access to transportation network
The mining lease area is located approximately 9 km from Cheepurupalli railway station on the Visakhapatnam-Howrah broad-gauge line. Avagudem village lies around 0.9 km away, while Vizianagaram district headquarters is approximately 40 km from the block. This connectivity could support future movement of ore, subject to the development of mining and transportation infrastructure.
Statutory approvals remain key to mine development
The block summary states that the successful bidder must obtain applicable statutory permissions, including environmental clearance, consent to establish, mine-opening permission and approval of the mining plan. These requirements mean that the preferred-bidder declaration does not translate into immediate mining or additional market supply.
