Weekly price trends
Raipur: ERW patra pipe prices were marginally down by INR 100/t w-o-w to INR 50,500/t exw on 9 October from INR 50,600/t a week earlier. Unscheduled electricity cuts during the week driven by power shortage across the region disrupted production and increased operating costs, which in turn supported prices. Market enquiries improved slightly, but the recovery was limited, while buyers continued to procure mainly to meet immediate requirements.
A Raipur-based manufacturer said, “Frequent electricity disruptions during working hours are affecting our production schedules and efficiency. Lost production time and the additional cost of backup power have increased our per-unit costs, keeping our prices elevated.”
Mandi Gobindgarh: ERW patra pipe prices decreased by INR 1,900/t w-o-w to INR 52,900/t exw on 9 October from INR 54,800/t a week earlier. The decline was attributed to lower raw material costs and subdued demand throughout the week. Buyers remained cautious, limiting procurement amid weak market conditions.
A Mandi Gobindgarh-based manufacturer said, “Most manufacturers have accumulated sufficient inventory amid persistently weak demand, while limited buying activity continues to weigh on market sentiment. With demand showing little sign of improvement, prices are expected to decline further in the coming days.”
Raw material trends
HR strip (patra): HR strip (patra) prices in Raipur inched down by INR 100/t w-o-w to INR 49,500/t exw on 9 October from INR 49,600/t a week earlier. In Mandi Gobindgarh, HR strip prices declined by INR 1,900/t to INR 51,900/t exw from INR 53,800/t over the same period.

Outlook
ERW patra pipe prices are likely to remain under pressure in the coming days amid weak demand and subdued buying, with sellers not expecting a significant recovery in the short term. Need-based procurement is expected to continue, limiting trading activity unless downstream demand improves. In Raipur, electricity disruptions, expected to persist through next week, could constrain production and support prices through higher operating costs. In Mandi Gobindgarh, prices may face further pressure if demand remains weak and raw material costs continue to decline.
