World Crude Steel Production Rise Marginally in CY16

According to the recent data released by WSA (World Steel Association), the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries in 2016 has registered an increase of 0.7% Y-o-Y and was recorded at 1,603.9 MnT in 2016 against 1,592.5 MnT in 2015.

In Dec’16, world’s crude steel production increased 2% M-o-M and stood at 134.1 MnT against 132.1 MnT in Nov’16.

China’s crude steel output at 808.4 MnT in CY16, up 1.2%

Country’s crude steel output surged 1.2% Y-o-Y from 798.79 MnT in 2015 to 808.4 MnT in 2016. In Dec’16, China’s crude steel production moved up by 1% to 67.22 MnT from 66.3 MnT in Nov’16.

Japan’s crude steel production down 0.4% in 2016

Japan’s crude steel production fell 0.4% Y-o-Y from 105.15 MnT in CY15 to 104.78 MnT in CY16. In Dec’16, country’s crude steel output increased 1% M-o-M to 8.71 MnT.

India’s crude steel production up 7% Y-o-Y in CY16

India’s crude steel output has increased from 89.03 MnT in CY15 to 95.62 MnT in CY16. Thus witnessing yearly growth of 7%.

In Dec’16, India’s crude steel production has moved up 9% M-o-M to 8.39 MnT.

In FY17 (till Dec’16) India’s crude steel output was at 72.3 MnT, up 9% against same period last fiscal. SAIL, RINL, Tata Steel, Essar, JSW Steel & Jindal Steel & Power together produced 40.19 MnT during Apr-Dec’16, registering growth of 15% compared to same period of last year.

South Korea’s crude steel output at 68.57 MnT in 2016

South Korea’s crude steel production was recorded at 68.57 MnT in CY16 against 69.67 MnT in CY15. Thus country’s crude steel output has fallen 2% Y-o-Y. In Dec’16, country’s crude steel output increased 2.8% M-o-M to 5.86 MnT.
