India: Four CIL subsidiaries to auction over 2 mnt of non-coking coal in Sep’26

  • Four Sep’26 auctions to offer substantial volumes 
  • NCL, ECL, SECL and MCL auctions to cover multiple grades

Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) has scheduled an e-auction on 25 September 2026, offering 223,000 t of non-coking coal. The offerings cover G9, G10 and G13 grades from Kakri, Block B and Jhingurda mines.

Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL) is scheduled to conduct its auction on 24 September, offering 875,000 t across G4, G11, G13, G12, W04 and G5 grades. Notified prices range from INR 1,716-3,557/t.

South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) has scheduled its e-auction for 26 September, offering 270,000 t of non-coking coal through the CIL E-Auction Scheme 2022 under the Single Window Mode Agnostic E-Auction Policy. The auction includes G3, G6, G8 and G9 grades.

Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) will conduct its September Single Window Mode Agnostic e-auction on 28 September, offering 797,350 t through road and rail modes. The offerings include G9, G12, G13 and G14 grades, along with IB Valley washery rejects.

Combined offerings exceeds 2 mnt

The four auctions together will offer 2.165 mnt of material. The auctions are spread across 24-28 September, giving buyers multiple opportunities to participate in domestic coal procurement. The offers include both road and rail evacuation, depending on the source and auction terms.

The broad grade mix ranges from lower-priced G13 and G14 coal to higher-priced G3, G4 and G5 material. MCL has also included 152,000 t of IB Valley washery rejects with GCV of 1,500-1,899 kcal/kg.
