The European Union (EU) has initiated a sunset review of anti-dumping measures on cold-rolled stainless steel sheets and coils originating from Taiwan and China, according to an announcement published in the Official Journal on 15 September.
The review follows a request filed by the European Iron and Steel Association (Eurofer) on 5 June, representing the EU stainless steel industry.
The EU has imposed anti-dumping duties on the products since 16 September 2021. The latest review will assess whether dumping and injury to the EU industry are likely to continue or recur if the existing measures are terminated.
The dumping investigation period covers 1 July 2025-30 June 2026, while injury trends will be evaluated from 1 January 2023, through the end of the investigation period.
The products under review include cold-rolled stainless steel sheets and coils classified under several CN codes, covering grades and dimensions under headings 7219 and 7220.
Eurofer seeks continuation of measures
Eurofer argued that terminating the existing anti-dumping measures could allow dumping from Taiwan and China to continue or recur, potentially causing renewed injury to the EU stainless steel industry.
The sunset review will therefore determine whether the current measures should be extended based on the likelihood of continued or recurring dumping and injury.
