France is world’s 7th largest steel importer. Country’s top steel import sources includes – Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Italy. In CY15, France imported 9,986,243 MT flat steel. It is to be noted that flat products account for a considerable share of France steel imports.
France finished flat steel imports were down 2% M-o-M. France finished flat steel imports fell from 817,826 MT in Oct’16 to 799,662 MT in Nov’16.
However on yearly premises, country’s flat steel import was higher by 2%. In Nov’15, France imported 784,972 MT flat steel.
Grade-wise France Flat Steel Imports – Out of total share of France flat steel imports in CY 16 (till Nov’16), GP/GC accounted for the largest share of 40% followed by HR coils/plates at 35% and CR coils at 13%.

Country-wise France Flat Steel imports –
In CY16 (till Nov’16) France imported 9,055,318 MT flat steel compared to 9,389,095 MT in the same period last year.
France imported 3,423,377 MT (38% share) flat steel from Belgium during Jan-Nov’16 and remained the most preferred country. Other major countries were Germany (17%), Netherlands (16%), Italy and Spain.
