- Largest-ever iron ore vessel handled at Krishnapatnam
- Cargo discharge rate reaches 47,384 t/day
Adani Krishnapatnam Port Ltd handled its largest-ever iron ore vessel, MV Mineral Deutschland, carrying 195,128 tonne (t) of cargo, according to an official release. The vessel achieved a discharge productivity of 47,384 t/day, marking a new benchmark in the port’s iron ore handling operations.
The record shipment highlights the port’s capability to handle close to 0.2 million tonnes (mnt) of iron ore in a single vessel call. The high discharge rate also indicates strong cargo-handling efficiency, which can help reduce vessel turnaround time for large dry-bulk shipments.
The development is relevant to India’s seaborne iron ore trade as efficient port infrastructure becomes increasingly important for handling large import and export parcels. The ability to discharge larger cargoes at high rates can improve logistical efficiency for shippers and support smoother movement of iron ore through the eastern coast.
