Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. (MCL) has planned to offer 1.955 mnt of non-coking coal through its Single Window Mode Agnostic e-auction on 10 September 2026, with material available through road and rail modes. Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (ECL) has also scheduled auctions on 10 and 14 September, offering a combined 65,500 t. The offers covered multiple grades, mines and evacuation routes, with notified prices varying by grade and source.
MCL offers nearly 2 mnt
MCL’s September auction included G7, G11, G12, G13, and G14 coal, with most volumes offered through road mode and smaller quantities linked to rail sidings.
The MCL notice stated that the auction is scheduled for 10 September, with coal offered by both road and rail under the Single Window Mode Agnostic e-auction scheme. The bid security is INR 150/t, with a INR 50/t processing fee for Indian buyers. The payment deadline for successful bidders is 23 September 2026.
The auction also includes washery rejects with GCV of 1,500-1,899 from IB Valley Coal Washery under the applicable washery-reject policy.
ECL schedules September auctions
ECL has scheduled an auction for 65,500 t on 10 September. The offered volume covers G4, W04, and W05 coal through road and rail routes.

For the 10 September auction, the G4 offer included 25,000 t from Khottadih and 4,000 t through the SSAP rail route, while Jhanjra offered 5,000 t by road and 4,000 t by rail. The W05 offer comprised 10,000 t by road from Gourangdih and 4,000 t by rail through Dalmiya siding.
ECL adds 20,000 t on 14 Sep
ECL has scheduled another auction for 14 September 2026, offering 20,000 t of G7 ROM coal from Gopinathpur MDO. Of this, 16,000 t was available by road and 4,000 t through PMCS siding by rail. The notified price, including STM charges, is INR 2,540/t, while the floor price is INR 2,921/t.
ECL requires successful bidders to deposit the coal value and requisite documents within 10 working days of auction closure. The notice also highlighted railway evacuation constraints and advised rail customers to consider alternative destinations where required.
