- Indian aluminium producers reduce prices broadly
- NALCO slashes aluminium prices again in August
National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) has reduced its P1020 aluminium ingot price by INR 6,100/t, or 1.7%, to INR 356,200/t. The revised price is effective from 21 August 2026, compared with INR 362,300/t on 15 August.
Global aluminium market remains mixed
The LME three-month aluminium contract stood at $3,205/t on 21 August, down 0.7% d-o-d from $3,228/t. Prices have declined 1.7% from $3,259/t on 14 August but remain 0.8% above the end-July level of $3,179/t.
Exchange inventories stood at 246,925 t on 21 August, unchanged from 20 August. Stocks are down 1.9% from 251,700 t on 14 August and 6.6% from 264,400 t at the end of July.
Domestic aluminium prices decline across major producers
NALCO’s price reduction is broadly in line with moves by other major Indian producers.
From 12 August to the latest available date, BALCO’s P1020 price declined from INR 386,500/t to INR 369,000/t, down 4.5%. Hindalco’s comparable price fell from INR 383,250/t to INR 362,500/t, a decline of 5.4%.
NALCO’s price has therefore fallen by 5.1% over the same period, with its latest price at INR 356,200/t.
The broad-based decline indicates that domestic aluminium prices are responding to the recent correction in global markets rather than a company-specific move by NALCO.
