- 500,000 t of G14 offered, likely to attract price-sensitive industrial consumers
- Premium G3, G5 demand may remain selective amid quality-driven buying
South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (SECL) has scheduled an additional 818,100 t of non-coking coal for auction under the CIL e-auction scheme 2022 through the Single Window Mode Agnostic (SWMA) platform on 17 August 2026. The offered volume spans grades G3 to G15 and includes both road and rail dispatches, with notified prices ranging from INR 737/t to INR 3,449/t.
G5: Premium UG coal commands the highest price
The Rajgamar UG Cluster has offered 20,000 t of G5 coal through the road mode. The notified price is INR 3,005/t, with Rajgamar UG serving as the loading point. The offering provides buyers access to higher-grade underground coal at one of the auction’s highest price levels.

G8: UG supply supports mid-range procurement
The Rajendra UG Cluster has offered 19,000 t, comprising 15,000 t through road and 4,000 t through rail. The road quantity is G8 coal at a notified price of INR 1,931/t from Rajendra UG. The rail component is a blended offering involving Amlai OC, Sharda HW, Rampur Batura OC, Bangwar UG, Damini UG, Khairaha UG and Rajendra UG, with the representative G6 price at INR 2,761/t.
The Bangwar UG Cluster has added another 24,000 t, including 20,000 t by road at INR 1,931/t and 4,000 t by rail under a blended grade structure. The rail offering includes coal from Amlai OC, Sharda HW, Rampur Batura OC, Bangwar UG, Damini UG, Khairaha UG and Rajendra UG, with the representative G6 price at INR 2,761/t.
G3: Moderate volumes on offer
The Katkona 1 & 2 Cluster has offered 45,000 t of coal, comprising 5,000 t through road and 40,000 t through rail. The representative notified price for G3 stands at INR 3,449/t. Road supplies will originate from Katkona UG, while the rail component is supported by Jhilimili UG, Pandavpara and Katkona 1 & 2, offering buyers a diversified sourcing basket.
G14: Large volumes anchor auction
The Baroud OC Cluster has offered 100,000 t of G14 coal through road dispatch at a notified price of INR 930/t. The entire quantity will be sourced from Baroud OC, making it one of the most competitively priced road-based offerings in the auction.
The Baroud Silo Cluster has contributed the largest single allocation of 400,000 t through rail dispatch at the same notified price of INR 930/t. Supplies will originate from Baroud OC, Bijari OC and Jampali OC. The large volume and competitive pricing make G14 the key segment of the auction.
G11: Moderate volumes offer dual evacuation options
The Jagannathpur OC G11 Cluster has offered 10,050 t, with a small 50 t road component and 10,000 t through the Bhatgaon Warf rail siding. The notified price is INR 1,184/t, with the coal sourced from Jagannathpur OC. The predominantly rail-based offering provides buyers with efficient bulk evacuation.
The Chhal Cluster has offered a further 200,050 t under a mixed-grade structure. Around 50 t of G11 coal will be dispatched by road at INR 1,184/t, while 200,000 t of G15 coal will be dispatched through the Chhal Silo by rail at a significantly lower notified price of INR 737/t. The offering is entirely sourced from Chhal OC.
Market outlook
The auction features a strong bias toward large-volume, competitively priced G14 coal, with a combined 500,000 t offered through Baroud and Chhal-linked supplies. This is likely to attract price-sensitive industrial consumers, particularly those seeking bulk rail-based procurement. Higher-priced G3 and G5 coal may see more selective participation based on quality requirements. Overall, the sizeable auction volume and broad road-rail mix are expected to support healthy participation, although bidding intensity will depend on prevailing industrial demand and buyers’ inventory positions.
