India: Rajasthan plans revival of small limestone mining leases to ease raw material shortages of cement producers

Rajasthan plans to restart the allocation of small limestone mining leases to address raw material shortages faced by over 2,000 quicklime and hydrated lime units, both of which are key feedstocks for cement production. The move follows the reclassification of limestone as a major mineral, which favoured large cement producers. The proposed policy aims to improve raw material availability and strengthen the state’s limestone value chain.
