Canada monthly coal exports have increased by 7% in Oct’16. Besides, Yearly exports have risen by 8% as compared to Oct’15.
Canada, among the top ten coal exporters in the world, has exported 2.87 MnT coal in Oct’16. The country’s export has increased on monthly basis. Yearly exports have also improved by 8% which was at 2.66 MnT in Oct’15. As per Canada customs data.
Out of the total exports, the country has supplied more than 80% Bituminous coal to different destinations and rest quantity comprises Pet coke and Coke.
In the month of Oct’16, out of the total exports, the country has transported 2.56 MnT Bituminous coal, 0.31 MnT Pet Coke and small quantities of Coke.

Quantity in MnT
In the first ten months of 2016 (Jan’16-Oct’16), the coal exports have increased minutely by 0.07% to 27.79 MnT, compared with 29.77 MnT in the same period of 2015.
Major Importing countries in Oct’16
South Korea, the major export destination of coal from Canada, received about 0.65 MnT coal in Oct’16 with a significant increase by 34% M-o-M compared with Sep’16 also, exports rose by 19% Y-o-Y.
Japan, the second-largest coal importer, imported 0.50 MnT coal in Oct’16 fell by 13% M-o-M. Also, Yearly imports have decreased by 20% Y-o-Y.
India, the third-largest coal importer, received around 0.40 MnT coal in Oct’16, with an increase of more than 0.32 MnT M-o-M. However, India did not import any coal in Oct’15.
The top three importing countries have received more than 50% of the total coal exported from Canada in Oct’16.
