Germany Iron Ore Import Up 7% in Sept’16

Germany, the world’s fourth largest Iron ore importer has imported 3.35 MnT iron ore in Sept’16, according to the trade statistics released by European Union customs.

Iron ore imports have witnessed a growth of 7.37% M-o-M as it was 3.12 MnT in Aug’16. However, country’s iron ore imports dropped down by 13.44% Y-o-Y as it was 3.87 MnT in Sept’15.

During the first nine months of 2016, the country imported 28.78 MnT iron ore, down by 10.47% Y-o-Y as it was 32.15 MnT in the same period prior this year.

Iron Ore

The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Sep’16 was registered at 2.29 MnT, significantly up by 28% M-o-M but down by 8% Y-o-Y. On similar lines, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 1.06 MnT, down by 20.44% M-o-M and 7.26% Y-o-Y.
