- Q1 stainless steel volumes down 15% q-o-q
- June dispatches increase 8% m-o-m despite lower realizations
Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd. reported a sequential decline in its stainless steel sales volumes during Q1FY27, despite recording improved average realizations. The company sold 23,237 t of stainless steel during the quarter, down 14.84% q-o-q from 27,287 t in Q4FY26. However, average realizations increased 18.04% q-o-q to INR 175,925/t, compared with INR 149,034/t in the previous quarter.
On a monthly basis, the company recorded 7,942 t of stainless steel sales in June FY27, up 7.81% m-o-m from 7,367 t in May FY27. Despite the increase in dispatches, average realizations declined 2.63% m-o-m to INR 176,588/t from INR 181,356/t, indicating softer pricing during the month.
On a year-on-year basis, June performance remained robust. Stainless steel sales volumes increased 40.21% y-o-y from 5,665 t in June FY26, while average realizations rose 23.15% y-o-y from INR 143,394/t.
The improvement in monthly volumes suggests healthy order inflows during June, although the decline in realizations points to pricing pressure amid changing market conditions. Overall, the company’s Q1 performance reflected lower sequential volumes but continued strength in average selling prices compared with the previous quarter.
