- Strong demand supports higher realisations
- Prices gain INR 5,000/t sequentially
SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) is scheduled to auction 2,011 tonnes (t) of crude coal tar on 15 June 2026, marking an increase of around 33% in volume compared with 1,509 t offered in the previous auction on 4 June.
The last auction on 4 June witnessed strong buying interest, with the entire quantity sold at an average weighted price of INR 59,500/t. This represented an increase of approximately INR 5,000/t, or 9.1%, compared with the previous auction held on 25 May, where the full offered quantity of 1,995 t was cleared at an average price range of INR 54,000-55,000/t.
The rise in realisations indicates firm demand from downstream coal chemical and carbon product manufacturers. Market participants will closely monitor the upcoming auction to assess whether the recent uptrend in crude coal tar prices sustains amid higher offered volumes.
