India: Around 90,000 t of iron ore booked at Odisha auctions

  • High-grade lumps fetch premiums at AM/NS auctions
  • Iron ore fines received low response

Odisha-based auctions saw 87,980-t iron ore booked on 29-30 May out of 139,980 t offered.

  • AM/NS: 40,000-t CLO (5-18 mm, Fe 62.5%) were booked at INR 25-50/t against a base price of INR 6,400/t. Around 12,000-t CLO (5-18 mm, Fe 60.5%) were sold at INR 6,200/t and 16,000-t low TI CLO (10-40 mm, Fe 58.5%) were sold at INR 4,600/t. However, 32,000 t of fines (Fe 53.5-56.5%) remained unsold (INR 3,000-3,800/t base price) on 29 May.
  • SAIL: 19,980 t of dump fines (Fe 58.82%) were booked at INR 3,730/t from Kalta mines on 30 May. In its last auction on 25 May, 11,800 t of dump fines (Fe 55.77%) were sold at INR 2,725/t.

Prices set on ex-mines basis, including royalty.
