“Broker demands in Alang to be fulfilled” – President of Brokers Association  

SteelMint spoke to the President of Broker Association, Alang on strike called by the brokers in Bhavnagar on the 5th of this month demanding hike in
their commission.

The following responses were gathered from the conversation. 

1. Will the demand for high brokerage be fulfilled?

Demand for increased commission has not been fulfilled yet but we have received a commitment to increase the rate before Diwali. On this account, we called off the strike on Wednesday.

2. What would be the increase in commission?

The present brokerage on sales is Rs 40/- per metric ton. It will be increased to Rs 70/- per metric ton
as per the demand.

3. On what grounds have you put forward such an increase?

Factors such as high inflation, rising prices of commodities, higher overhead costs support our demands. Also, there has been no hike in commission for quite sometime.
