Baltic Dry Index continues to rise amid firm cargo demand

The Baltic Dry Index increased by 2.6% (66 points) to 2,633 on 20 Apr’26 against 17 Apr, driven by stronger iron ore and coal cargo flows, improved fixture activity, and a tightening supply of prompt vessels across key routes.

  • Capesize: BCI rose 4.3% (172 points) to 4,300.
  • Panamax: BPI increased 0.05% (1 points) to 1,976.
  • Supramax: BSI inched up by 0.5% (7 points) to 1,422.
