India’s largest iron ore producer, NMDC is conducting an e-auction for 12,000 MT iron ore pellets for Fe 64% on 15 Nov’16 from its Donimalai pellet plant based in Karnataka. The e-auction will be conducted through MSTC.
This is the first time, NMDC has produced pellets from its Karnataka plant and is offering pellets in the market for commercial sales.
The BF grade pellet offered in the e-auction comprises of size ranging from 6-16 mm with silica content less than 4%, alumina content less than 2% and minimum tumbler index of 96%.
NMDC has a pellet plant with an installed capacity of 1.2 MnT pa at Donimalai in Karnataka as a part of its beneficiation programme. Apart from this, it has also set up a beneficiation plant of 1.8 MnT pa in Karnataka.
It is to be noted that, low grade iron ore fines procured from NMDC’s Donimalai mines will undergo beneficiation which will feed the pellet plant to produce pellets of grade Fe 65%.
