UK Iron Ore Import Down by 38% in Aug’16

Trade statistics released by the European Union shows that UK, the 10th largest iron ore importer has imported 0.66 MnT iron ore in Aug’16.

Country’s import fell by 38% M-o-M as compared to 1.07 MnT in Jul’16. However, on Y-o-Y basis, iron ore imports moved up by 2% as compared to 0.64 MnT in Aug’15.

In the first eight months of 2016, the country imported 6.28 MnT iron ore, down by 35% as it was 9.73 MnT in the same period last year.

The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) imports in Aug’16 was registered at 0.22 MnT, down by 73% over the previous month as it was 0.81 MnT in Jul’16 as well as in Aug’15.

The agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrates) imports in Aug’16 was registered at at 0.26 MnT, increases by 69% M-o-M. However, on Y-o-Y basis, the country’s agglomerated imports remained stable at 0.44 MnT.
