Iron ore dispatches from Odisha based merchant miners fell by 9% Q-o-Q in Q2 FY17. 13.64 MnT iron ore was dispatched by these miners in Q2 FY17 compared to 14.92 MnT in Q1 FY17.
Dispatches of Odisha’s largest merchant iron ore miner – Rungta Mines fell by 21% Q-o-Q from 4.3 MnT in Q1 FY17 to 3.4 MnT in Q2 FY17. Serajuddin Mines’ iron ore dispatches fell by 19% Q-o-Q to 1.7 MnT in Q2 FY17. Dispatches of other major miners in Q2 FY17 were as follows: AMTC – 1.37 MnT (down by 37% Q-o-Q), KJS Ahluwalia – 1.47 MnT (up by 99% Q-o-Q) and Indrani Patnaik – 1.22 MnT (up by 27% Q-o-Q).
State owned unit – OMC dispatched 0.73 MnT iron ore in Q2 FY17 compared to 0.87 MnT in Q1 FY17.

In first half of this fiscal, Odisha based merchant miners dispatched 28.57 MnT iron ore.
The reason behind fall in dispatches in domestic market was lesser rake availability owing to increased low-grade iron ore export from Odisha. Rungta Mines exported 0.65 MnT iron ore in Q2 FY 17 against 0.14 MnT in Q1 FY17.
