Bangladesh being one of the emerging coal importer in South East Asia, imported around 1.5 MnT to 2 MnT during Bangladesh(BD) FY’15 and approx. 3.5 MnT during BD FY’16. During the first three months of BD FY’17 the nation imported around 1,50,000 MT of Coal.

The nation imported around 1,00,000 MT of Coal from Indonesia during Aug’16 and 50,000 MT from South Africa during Sep’16. It is to be noted that it is for the first time, Bangladesh imported Coal from South Africa during BD FY’17.
It is believed that the import numbers will witness a growth in coming months, as due to present weather condition and continuous rain the import has fallen down.
