According to the trade statistics released by Canadian Customs, Canada, the 5th largest iron ore export has exported around 3.39 MnT iron ore in Jul’16 .
Iron ore exports remained unchanged at 3.39 MnT when monthly comparison is done. On the contrary, Canadian iron ore export has increased significantly by 17% Y-o-Y basis.
In the first seven months of 2016, the country exported 22.8 MnT iron ore, up by 11.7% as it was 20.4 MnT in the same consecutive period last year.
In Jul’16, the agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports were at 1.45 MnT, while non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) exports were registered at 1.94 MnT.
- France turned out to be the largest iron ore importer of Canadian iron ore in last two months replacing China, which was the largest iron ore importer. In Jul’16, France imported 0.67 MnT iron ore, marginally down by 1.4% as it was 0.68 MnT in the month of Jun’16. The nation imported 0.54 MnT in the month of Jul’15.
- Netherlands, the second largest iron ore importer has imported 0.61 MnT in the month of Jul’16. It is to be noted that Netherlands imported more than double quantity of iron ore in Jul’16 as it was 0.17 MnT in the month of Jun’16. In Jul’15, the country imported 0.15 MnT iron ore.
- Japan, the 3rd largest iron ore importer has imported 0.40 MnT iron ore in Jul’16, up by 17.6% as compared to 0.34 MnT in Jun’16 On Y-o-Y basis, imports rose by 14.2% Y-o-Y.
- China, being the largest iron ore importer stood at 4th position and imported only 0.36 MnT iron ore in the month of Jul’16, significantly down by 29% as it was 0.51 MnT in the month of Jun’16. The country imported the highest quantity of 0.81 MnT in the month of Jul’15.
- Belgium, the 4th largest iron ore importer of Canadian iron ore had imported around 0.31 MnT in Jul’16, up by 35% as compared to 0.23 MnT in Jun’16. However, on a Y-o-Y basis, imports rose by 94% as it was 0.16 MnT in the month of Jul’15.
