India’s sponge iron prices surged further day-on-day (d-o-d), rising by INR 50-800 per tonne across major production and consumption hubs. Sponge iron trade volumes surged to 34,400 t across India.
India’s billet prices continued their upward momentum on 24 July 2025, with BigMints index rising by INR 400/tonne (t) d-o-d to INR 37,500/t exw-Raipur. The conversion spread from sponge iron (PDRI) to billets for standalone induction furnaces in the Raipur cluster was recorded at INR 12,800/t.
BigMint’s domestic end-cutting scrap index, tracking the Mandi Gobindgarh market, inched up by INR 100/tonne (t) d-o-d to INR 35,500/t DAP.
