South Korea imposes final ADD on Vietnamese cold-rolled stainless steel

  • Final AD duties replace provisional tariffs
  • Duties, ranging 11-19%, to be levied for 5 yrs

South Korea’s Ministry of Strategy and Finance has abolished the provisional anti-dumping tariff extension on cold-rolled stainless steel (STS) from Vietnam, replacing it with final anti-dumping duties, effective 11 July 2025. The new tariffs, ranging from 11.37% to 18.81% depending on the supplier, will be applied for five years. This move targets products less than 4.75-mm thick and at least 600 mm wide, covering key HS codes.

The government’s decision follows a review period and public consultation, ultimately rejecting requests for price commitments or quotas. Authorities emphasised that the measure aims to restore fair pricing and protect the domestic steel industry amid ongoing supply chain shifts. The new duties are expected to impact supply and demand dynamics, particularly as no Vietnamese cold-rolled stainless steel was imported in the first week of July.
