Odisha Govt to meet CEC on 10th Sept on E-Auction Roll Out

Bhubaneswar, India

The officials of Steel and Mines department, government of Odisha, will have its next meeting with the Supreme Court appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) on September 10th 2013, to carry out final round of negotiations on roll out of e-auction of minerals like iron ore and chrome ore in the state.

On behalf of the department, director of mines Mr Deepak Mohanty is scheduled to attend the meeting. Last year the state government had decided to start e-auction to sell key bulk minerals like Iron Ore, Manganese Ore and Chrome Ore from April this year. However, this has been delayed amid pending written consent from CEC that is needed to enforce the process on the private miners.

Few Months back ,  the CEC had sought information from the state steel & mines department regarding price differential between normal sale price of mine lessees and e-auction prices. The committee also pointed out the possibility of disputes between buyers and sellers that may arise due to auction sale.

According to the sources, the state government has provided all the information to the CEC and has also taken the view of the Advocate General of Odisha. The department is planning to launch e-auction within one month after getting the clearance from the CEC.
