China iron ore import in Jun’16 was recorded at 81.6 MnT against 86.7 MnT in May’16. Thus on monthly premises figure is down by 6%.
However on yearly basis import figure is up by 9% as the China iron ore import figure was recorded at 74.9 MnT in Jun’15.
China imported 494 MnT iron ore in H1 2016
In H1 CY16 (i.e. Jan’16-Jun’16) China imported nearly 493.6 MnT iron ore which is higher by 9% Y-o-Y. The country imported 453 MnT in iron ore in H1 CY15. This shows country’s increasing appetite for raw material.
In Jun’16, global iron ore prices remained positive. For greater part of the month the prices for Fe 62% fines were seen hovering in the range of USD 50-52/MT, CFR China and towards the end of last month prices escalated to USD 54/MT, CFR China.
China’s steel export hit 2nd highest in Jun’16
Steel export from China climbed to 2nd highest in Jun’16. The country exported 10.9 MnT steel in Jun’16.
Prior to this, in Sept’15 the country had exported 11.25 MnT which has remained its highest monthly export figure so far. In H1 CY16, China’s steel export summed up to 57.1 MnT up by 9% Y-o-Y.
