Glencore, a leading South African ferro chrome producer, recorded a 2% q-o-q rise in production which reached 277,000 t in Q1CY’25, up from 272,000 t in Q4CY’24. However, output fell by 7% y-o-y compared to 297,000 t in Q1CY’24. The y-o-y decline in output reflects weak market conditions and smelter shutdowns, with the company responding through proactive operational adjustments.
