Chile’s Codelco has signed a deal to supply copper concentrate to Adani Group’s $1.2 billion Kutch smelter in Gujarat, India, one of the world’s largest single-location plants. The smelter, with an initial 500,000-t capacity, will expand to 1 mnt. The supply starts in 2025 and will support Adani’s renewable energy and wire businesses. Notably, Codelco has also signed a preliminary agreement with Hindustan Copper to explore and process minerals.
