India, one of the prime buyers of international coal, managed to curb its non-coking import in the first month of this fiscal. Center’s endeavors visible in import figures.
India, the 2nd most prominent non-coking coal shipper around the globe, imported 14.9 MnT of non-coking coal in Apr’16. Last year the nation had imported about 1 MnT more coal in the same month. Higher yield of domestic coal has prompted fall in India’s non-coking import by 5% for Apr’16 against Apr’15.

Monthly stats
Analyzing monthly figures have revealed that import has risen on monthly comparison. The nation has imported 14.9 MnT of coal in Apr’16 against 13.9 in Mar’16. Non-coking import grew by 7% in Apr’16 against Mar’16.
Apex non-coking coal exporters
Indonesia and South Africa were the major non-coking coal exporters to India for Apr’16. Indonesia exchanged about 9.1 MnT of non-coking coal, enlisting a minor development in export to India of 3.4% against the earlier month. Meanwhile, South Africa traded about 3.4 MnT of non-coking coal; growing around 2.9% on month to month premises.

Major discharging ports in Apr’16
Full scale imported non-coking coal traded WCI was about 9.1 MnT and rest 5.7 MnT connected in the ECI. Mundra and Krishnapatnam ports were the essential destinations for holding non-coking coal import for the month. They got approx 2.4 MnT and 1.7 MnT of material in Apr’16 against 1.8 MnT and 1.5 MnT in Apr’16 individually.
Adani Group exported highest quantity of non-coking coal in the month. Import figures by Adani Enterprise and Adani Power totaled to 2.6 MnT and Essar Steel imported 1 MnT of non-coking coal in Apr’16.
It is to be noted that the country’s import of non-coking coal was surveyed at 167.6 MnT in the recent monetary against 183.7 MnT in FY15 because of adequate production by Coal India to satisfy needs of power sector.
