SAIL, BHP sign MoU to accelerate pathways for steel decarbonisation

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and BHP have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on steelmaking decarbonisation in India, focusing on lower-carbon technologies for blast furnaces. They are exploring workstreams to assess strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including the use of hydrogen and biochar while developing local R&D capabilities to support the transition to sustainable steel production.
