China: Steel imports remain stable m-o-m in Aug’24

China’s steel imports remained largely stable m-o-m at 510,000 t in Aug’24, according to General Administration of Customs’ data.
Preference to exports amid weak demand in the domestic market weighed on imports.
Cumulative import volumes (Jan-Aug’24) dropped by 8% y-o-y to 4.63 mnt compared to 5.06 mnt in the same period of last year.
