Alang’s ship-breaking scrap prices increased by INR 200/t on 30 Aug’24, with HMS (80:20) reaching INR 34,200/t ($408/t) exy. Sources highlighted a growing price disparity between sellers and buyers. With approximately 15-20 ships beached in Alang for breaking, the reduced supply of scrap has led suppliers to push for higher prices. Conversely, limited demand for semi-finished and finished steel has led buyers to lower offers.
