Chinese traders showed enduring interest in coking coal buying. Prices were stable this week after surging last week, however, purchasers hold their buying expecting to get discounts.
Australian Premium HCC, the most preferred garde in steel making, was traded actively by both the major importers, China and India. The offers remain stable amid less buying.
SteelMint evaluated that Premium hard coking coal from Australia was available at around USD 83-84 MT, CFR India alike last week. Similarly cargos of Aussie’s HCC were also heard to be available at USD 80-81/MT, CFR India witnessing no change in offers in a week’s time.
Prices of Australian PHCC inched up by about USD 3-4/MT in the last fifteen days. This likened to USD 77-78/MT, FoB Australia for PHCC, subsequent to representing Panamax-size cargo from Australia to India around USD 6-7/MT. Hard coking coal prices were assessed at around USD 74-75 /MT, FoB Australia.
Coking Coal Imports to India & China
In the meantime, SteelMint reviewed that import of coking coal to India has shown a fringe fall of 1% in Jan’16 and was assessed at 4.1 MnT against Dec’15. Whereas, coking coal imports to China in Jan’16 fell by around 25% M-o-M.
