In May’16, JSPL is likely to commission a new 1.4 MnT rebar mill in Angul (Odisha). In Q3 FY16, company’s consolidated steel production up by 20%, but domestic production down by 12% on Y-o-Y basis.
Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) is one of the leading steelmaker having its plants located in central and eastern part of India.
The company is going to commence new rebar mill with a capacity of 1.4 MnT pa in Angul (Odisha) nearby May’16, as per a press release of JSPL. Also in overseas location, another rebar mill of 1.4 MnT pa in Oman is expected to be commissioned by Q4 FY16.
It has also an existing capacity of rebar and wire rod mill of 1 MnT and 0.6 MnT respectively located in Patratu (Jharkhand).
The company recently reported Q3 FY16 performance and its rebar sales grew two-fold in retail segment on y-o-y basis under the brand name ‘Jindal Panther’.
On a consolidated basis, there was a rise of 20% Y-o-Y in steel production and 4% Q-o-Q during Q3 FY16. Meanwhile, sales volume up by 24% and 2% in the respective period.
However on standalone basis, there was a fall of 12% Y-o-Y in steel production and 8% Q-o-Q during Q3 FY16. In-line, sales volumes fell by 8% and 5% in the same respective period.
