India’s iron ore exports recover in May’24 after dropping for three consecutive months

India’s iron ore fines and lumps exports were recorded at 3.28 million tonnes (mnt) in May 2024 against 2.24 mnt seen in April, showing a m-o-m surge of around 46%. Meanwhile, export volumes rose by 14% y-o-y against 2.88 mnt recorded in the same period last year. Notably, export volumes have recovered after dropping for three consecutive months since February 2024. Meanwhile, pellet exports increased significantly m-o-m to 0.89 mnt in May 2024, against 0.20 mnt in April which was the lowest since September 2022.
