According to recent press release, state-owned KIOCL, have recently signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Govt. of Karnataka for setting up 4 MnT pa iron ore benefication plant and 2 MnT pa pelletization plant in Bellary district, Karnataka state, in regards of the proposed mining asset being considered by Govt of Karnataka.
Mr.Gaurav Gupta, Commissioner (Industrial Development), Govt. of Karnataka and Shri Malay Chatterjee, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, KIOCL, signed MOU in the presence of Sri RV Deshpande, Hon’ble Minister for Large , Medium Industries & Tourism, Government of Karnataka on 4.2.2016 during “Invest Karnataka- 2016” at Bengaluru.
Mr. Chatterjee, expressed that company has internal strength for development of mines and setting up of plants and the proposed project will generate employment opportunity to locals during construction period as well as during and directly and indirectly employment including ancillary industries on commissioning.
On assessment of iron ore reserves and quality a TEFR/DPR will be prepared for setting up of beneficiation plant of 4 MnT pa capacity suitable for up-gradation of ore quality by adopting latest technology. Alongside, state- of- the art pelletization plant of capacity 2 MnT pa is also proposed to set up at site.
