Steel prices move up in North India amid power prices hiked by UP electricity board

Power prices in UP state has been increased by around 20% ,Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) has, however, maintained that tariffs have been differentiated across various sectors in order to make up for the differential in prices at which power is sold to consumers.

Steel association claim that power prices are already high and further hike will make industries nonviable in the state.

Although steel prices have increased a bit, but in a long run it will hurt industries.Demand for finished steel products has shown no signs of improvement and it may take sometime when demand might pick up as construction in the country remains weak owing to poor demand and liquidity issues” said manufacturers from the state.
