Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market inched up by INR 200/t d-o-d on 1 May’24, as per BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) prices were assessed at INR 38,300/t exy. Semi-finished steel prices increased by INR 500-600/t in the region along with active buying inquiries for scrap by the Bhavnagar-based IF steel mills which prompted suppliers to improve their offers today.
