China’s ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry generated a revenue of RMB 1,908.67 billion ($263/t bn) in Q1CY’24, reflecting a decrease of 2.8% y-o-y against the last year. The operating cost during this period was RMB 1,864.01 billion ($257/t bn), representing a y-o-y decline of 1.5%. Despite the decrease in costs, the industry incurred a loss of RMB 21.36 billion ($3/t bn).
