The Ministry of Mines has prepared the draft the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2016 seeking to amend the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
MMDR (Amendment) Act, 2016 shall come into force from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. The Act takes into account insertion of proviso for allowing transfer of captive mining leases granted through other than auction route subject to compliance with the terms and conditions as prescribed by the central govt. in this behalf.
The Ministry of Mines has invited suggestions till 26 Jan’16 from general public, govt. of states and union territories mining industry, stake holders, industry associations, and other persons and entities concerned, on the draft Bill.
