RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant ended the year achieving best ever performance in production and also in its sales volume during Apr-Dec’15 despite volatile and difficult market conditions in the country.
On production front, RINL achieved an impressive growth of 21% in saleable steel production during Apr-Dec’15 over CPLY. In several other areas also growth was recorded such as blast furnace productivity, specific water consumption, labour productivity etc during the period.
RINL also recorded best any quarter performance in production of sinter, liquid steel, wire rod production etc.
On the sales front, RINL registered a growth of 8% by achieving a turnover of INR 86.36 billion during Apr-Dec’15. This includes export sales of INR 9.35 billion, representing an impressive growth of 28%. The sales in December of INR 16.17 billion with a sales volume of 5 lakh tonnes is the highest since inception for any December.
Star performer award
RINL bagged the ‘Star Performer Award’ for FY14 for the second time in succession for contribution to exports. The award was instituted by Engineering Exports Promotion Council, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
Shri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL while terming 2016 a “Very Promising Year for RINL”, expressed confidence on the capability of RINL collective in achieving the targets set for the new year. He indicated that ramping up of production from the new units would be the focus area and exhorted the employees to work with greater commitment and dedication to scale new heights.
