Pakistan’s thermal coal imports rose by 20% m-o-m to 0.89 mnt in Jan’24 as against 0.74 mnt in Dec’23. South Africa was the largest exporter at 0.46 mnt followed by Indonesia at 0.28 mnt and Tanzania at 0.06 mnt. Imports from Indonesia dropped by 67% m-o-m as compared to 0.52 mnt in the previous month. Moreover, shipments from Mozambique dropped by 78% to 0.05 mnt in Jan’24 as against 0.23 mnt in Dec’23.
