The High court hearing on the controversial issue of Odisha
Mining Corporation (OMC)'s tender to e-auction chrome ore at differential rates
has been postponed till 12th of November.
The case pertains to OMC's tenders floated on September 3
for auction sale of chrome ore and chrome concentrate from its Kaliapani and
south Kaliapani mines in Jajpur.
In the tender, OMC had indicated to auction chrome ore of
the same grade at the same location at different prices and a former MP had
challenged the state-owned undertaking's auction procedure in the high court.
Balgopal Mishra, a former MP had said in his petition to Orissa high court had that In the matter of auction sale of chrome ore/chrome concentrate by
fixing two different rates for the same material for Odisha-based and outside
Odisha-based bidders, (OMC) not only committed irregularities in the matter of
sale of the precious chrome ore but also caused huge loss to the government.
Mishra had further challenged that OMC was supplying chrome
ore to private companies that have mining lease for chromite mines.
“Although the eligibility criteria in the tender call notice provides that
the lessee company, which has been given lease of chrome ore mines, or any
company connected thereto shall not be eligible for participating in the
bidding for purchase of chrome ore, but they have been allowed and chrome ore
is being sold to those companies/lease holders of chrome mines,” the
petition said.
